Connecting a Wallet
To perform transactions on the blockchain, you'll need a wallet. Virtual Cofounder supports several wallet options, each suited to different use cases.
How Wallet Connection Works
Unlike many blockchain applications, Virtual Cofounder doesn't have a "Connect Wallet" button. Instead:
- You start a conversation normally
- When you request an operation that needs a wallet, Virtual Cofounder handles the connection
- For Keplr, you'll see a popup to approve
- For other methods, the connection happens automatically
This means:
- You don't need to connect before starting
- The right chain is selected automatically based on your conversation
- Virtual Cofounder handles chain switching when needed
What You Can Do Without a Wallet
Many features work without any wallet connected:
- Query blockchain data
- Explore deployed contracts
- Learn about smart contract types
- Get information about chains and environments
- Simulate transactions (without executing)
When you try to execute a transaction without a wallet, Virtual Cofounder will guide you through your options.
Choosing a Wallet Option
| Use Case | Recommended Wallet |
|---|---|
| Real assets, production | Keplr |
| Learning and exploring | Test Wallet |
| Automated testing | Mnemonic (test wallet only) |
| Starting fresh | Create New Wallet |
General guidance: Use Keplr for anything with real value. Use the test wallet or create a new wallet for learning and experimentation.
Wallet Options
Keplr Wallet (Recommended)
The most secure option for real blockchain operations. Keplr is a browser extension that keeps your private keys secure and lets you approve each transaction.
Best for: Mainnet operations, real assets, production use
When you ask Virtual Cofounder to perform an operation that requires a wallet, it will automatically prompt Keplr to connect—there's no wallet button to click. You'll see a Keplr popup asking you to approve the connection.
Browser support:
| Browser | Supported |
|---|---|
| Chrome | ✓ |
| Firefox | ✓ |
| Edge | ✓ |
| Brave | ✓ |
| Opera | ✓ |
| Arc | ✓ |
| Safari | ✗ |
| Mobile browsers | ✗ |
Most Chromium-based desktop browsers support Keplr through Chrome extension compatibility.
Installing Keplr:
- Visit your browser's extension store
- Search for "Keplr"
- Install the official Keplr extension
- Follow the setup wizard to create or import a wallet
Once installed, Keplr runs in the background. Virtual Cofounder detects it automatically.
Test Wallet
A pre-configured wallet available on testnet for trying out Virtual Cofounder without setting up your own wallet.
Best for: Quick experimentation, learning, demos
To use the test wallet:
Use the test wallet for this session
The test wallet is funded on testnet and ready to use immediately. This is a great way to try deploying contracts or sending transactions without any setup.
⚠️ Important: The test wallet is shared and should only be used for experimentation. Don't rely on it for anything you want to keep.
Provide a Mnemonic
You can provide a mnemonic phrase (seed phrase) for Virtual Cofounder to use directly.
Best for: Testing with a specific wallet, automated workflows
To connect with a mnemonic:
Connect using this mnemonic: [your 12 or 24 word phrase]
⚠️ Security Notice: When you share a mnemonic in conversation, it may be stored in your chat history. While we take measures to protect your information, chat conversations are not designed as secure storage for sensitive credentials. Only use this option with test wallets or wallets you're willing to lose. For wallets holding any real value, use Keplr instead—it keeps your keys secure and never exposes them in conversation.
Create a New Wallet
Virtual Cofounder can generate a new wallet for you.
Best for: Starting fresh on testnet, creating dedicated testing wallets
To create a new wallet:
Create a new wallet for me
Virtual Cofounder will generate a new mnemonic phrase and display it in the conversation.
⚠️ Security Notice: The generated mnemonic will appear in your chat history. While we take measures to protect your information, chat conversations are not designed as secure storage for sensitive credentials. We recommend this feature only for testing wallets. If you create a wallet for long-term use, immediately copy the mnemonic to a secure offline location—it cannot be recovered if lost.
New wallets start with zero balance. On testnet, you can request funds from a faucet:
